Our DNA: Theme and Design at the heart of the game
At Sorry We Are French, we believe that a board game is, above all, a gateway to an adventure or a story. We don’t design games without a strong narrative: the theme is never just « flavor text », it must be authentic and inseparable from the mechanics.
Our art direction is always meticulously crafted, and we look for creations that push the boundaries of the imagination. Several of our titles even share the same universe, reinforcing our commitment to creating immersive and coherent experiences.
Our Wishlist
We are currently looking for projects that fall exclusively into the four categories below. Important Note: Every game must accommodate at least 2 to 4 players. We are no longer looking for 2-player exclusive games.
- 1. Card Games (e.g., Epic Melee)
- Audience: Family or Intermediate.
- Target MSRP: €12 – €17.
- Criteria: A compact format but a strong thematic experience.
- 2. Small Board Games (e.g., Secret Identity, LEDA)
- Audience: Family or Intermediate.
- Target MSRP: €17 – €25.
- Criteria: Original mechanics and a strong visual presence.
- 3. Large Family Games (e.g., In the Footsteps of Darwin)
- Audience: Family exclusively.
- Target MSRP: €17 – €30.
- Criteria: Accessible yet deep, with high-quality components.
- 4. Intermediate Games (e.g., Kingdom Crossing, Greylune)
- Audience: Intermediate.
- Target MSRP: €22 – €37.
- Criteria: Total immersion and « authentic » mechanics that serve the setting.
Submission Requirements
To catch our eye, your project must be:
- Innovative: It must feature a « Woot Effect »—that unique moment during the pitch where the innovation triggers an « Aha! » of both obviousness and surprise.
- Mature: The game must be thoroughly playtested and ready to go into development with a publisher.
- Exclusive: It must not already be under a license or distribution contract with another entity.
- Authentic: We do not accept any projects created, in whole or in part, by Artificial Intelligence.
How to present your idea to us?
We only review complete applications sent via our dedicated address:
- 1. Technical Sheet (1-page PDF): Including key info (age, player count, duration), a full component list, and a highlight of the game’s strengths and the « Woot Effect. »
- 2. Rulebook (PDF): A clear, structured, and well-laid-out version.
- 3. Presentation Video (2 to 5 min): This should sell the fun and the emotion of the game rather than being a step-by-step tutorial.
- Important: If the video is not in French, it must include English subtitles.

A final word on your submissions
We know how much energy and passion is required to bring a prototype to life, and we thank you for trusting us with your work. Your documents remain strictly confidential within our editorial team.
However, our standards are as high as our production capacity: we only release two games per year. With over 500 submissions received annually, our selection process is extremely precise. A refusal never calls into question the intrinsic quality of your work; it is often a matter of lineup consistency, personal « crush, » or scheduling.
Sending a submission does not constitute a publishing commitment from Sorry We Are French. Given the volume of proposals, we are unable to provide personalized critical feedback for every project. If your concept sparks the interest we are looking for, we will certainly be in touch.
